Three Days in Abu Dhabi

A vibrant and cosmopolitan city and home to some of the most unique experiences in the Middle East, Abu Dhabi is now one of the most visited cities in the world. It’s a popular destination in its own right, with attractions that draw visitors from all around the globe. If you’ve only got three days and want to pack in as much as you can, here’s what should be on your list. 

Day 1 – Discover the jewels of the city

The first day in any city is the opportunity to get your bearings and plan your time carefully. Abu Dhabi is easy to navigate, and is well laid out. Check out the city’s key landmarks and use these as markers as you explore. The incredible Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is a must-see, and is one of the largest mosques in the world. Its dazzling tiles and beautifully tranquil grounds are a great place to relax for a while.

The Abu Dhabi Falcon hospital is an unexpected and unusual addition to any itinerary. This state of the art conservation centre looks after hawks and falcons, giving you an insight into one of Abu Dhabi’s cultural passions too. Birds of prey play a hugely significant role in Middle Eastern culture, and here you can learn all about them and how Abu Dhabi is working to raise the profile of hawk preservation.

After lunch, it’s time to check out the various souqs, markets and traders that sell everything from gold jewellery to spices and carpets. If things get too hot, head to the Corniche beach or take a stroll along the waterfront, where the cooling breeze takes the edge off the desert heat.

Day 2 – fuel up for some adventures

One of Abu Dhabi’s top attractions is Ferrari World. This is the world’s first Ferrari theme park and an absolute must-see for driving enthusiasts. Jump in an F1 car at Yas Marina circuit and take a 300km/hour spin around the track. If your nerves can’t handle that kind of speed but you still need an adrenaline rush then hop on board the world’s fastest rollercoaster, also located at the same place.
 
Book up for a 4x4 ‘Dune Bashing’ ride out in the desert, where lovers of all things off-road can get their thrills in a top of the range 4x4 driven by an expert guide.They’ll take you up some of the desert’s biggest dunes. Once the sun sets in, you can enjoy a night under the stars in a tribal setting, with hena tattoos, delicious food, and Arabian hospitality. 

Day 3 – Discover the other side of the city

Abu Dhabi also hosts many hidden natural gems that offering many opportunities for nature lovers to see a different face of the city. From mangrove kayaking around the rivers and inlets surrounding the islands, to a night in the desert under the stars in Liwa Oasis, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
 
After all that outdoor activity, it’s time to head back into the centre of the city and indulge in some laid down relaxation. Abu Dhabi is a haven for anyone looking for some quality pampering , from expert massage and hot Turkish baths through to lazy, treatments and rejuvenation experiences.  Abu Dhabi malls offer great shopping experiences for all budgets, where you can start off with lunch in one of the many restaurants that line the Waterfront.
