Top tips for working from home or hotel

20 Apr 2020

Whether you’re a one-person team, doing a business trip alone or having to work from home for a little while, working alone doesn’t have to be lonely or isolating. We’ve put together our top tips to get the most out of working from home or hotels in the UAE and Qatar.

Make your space work

Working from home sounds great, but how do you separate the work from home? Set yourself a designated working area, an area that you can tidy away, or a home office you can close the door on at the end of the day. You may find inspiration in outdoor spaces, or need to tackle deadlines at a desk.

At Premier Inn, doing business is simple. Our business centres are equipped with work spaces and free WiFi, and our team are on hand to assist with printing and scanning. Our rooms also have desks for when you need to focus on important projects.

Dress to impress

So you may not be walking into the boardroom, or presenting to your colleagues any time soon, but that doesn’t mean you should be too casual with your work wear. You could go for the ‘work from home’ mullet; business on top, and party on the bottom. Pop on your regular office shirt or blouse, but opt for a more relaxed sweat pants and slippers combo on the bottom, making you ready to join in the video conference call in comfort.

Remember, what you wear can set your mood for the day. So if you want a productive day at the office, dress accordingly.

Time for a break?

Don’t get caught up in working all day and all night. Make a schedule for your work day, with a definite start and end. Take a lunch break, make a healthy snack and step away from your laptop and devices. You can even order your favourite Costa Coffee and snack to your door as a mid-morning treat.

Try an at home workout during your lunch break. YouTube hosts thousands of workout videos you can do at home, in your hotel room or wherever you can get a WiFi connection! Choose from Yoga challenges, a quick HIIT blast or an energetic aerobic session.

Check-in

We don’t mean hotel check-in, but check-in regularly with friends, family and colleagues. Let people know where you are, how you’re doing and what you’ve got planned for the day ahead. It’s important to have contact with other people, whether it’s a friendly video call with loved ones, or an update in the team group chat – let people know you’re safe or reach out if you need some support.

Get a good night’s sleep

Whether you’re in the comfort of your own home, or away on business, a great day starts with a good night’s sleep. Take a cool shower, or warm bath and enjoy a chamomile tea to relax before snuggling down for the night. Put your devices away, and turn down the lights – but keep the temperature around 18 degrees to stop the room becoming too stuffy.

Our Hypnos beds, toasty duvets and choice of pillows are the perfect comfort combination for a good night’s sleep when you’re away from home.
