The UAE is incredibly family-oriented. Malls, restaurants, cafes and parks can be found throughout the country and they are all welcoming spaces for people of any age. The UAE is also regarded as a safe country, both for families travelling with children and those who are travelling alone.

The UAE is an Islamic country and while it has a multi-cultural population, it’s important to understand, respect and follow its customs and laws. Public displays of affection should be kept to a minimum, and shake a person’s hand only if they offer theirs first. Lightweight, looser fitting clothing is preferred, both for climate and cultural reasons; avoid any clothing that is too tight or revealing. Swimming costumes should be worn only at the beach or a pool area. Behaviour in public areas should also be respectful and polite at all times. Both English and Arabic are widely spoken in the UAE.

Before you arrange your trip it’s worth checking whether it falls during the Holy month of Ramadan. During this month, most of the Muslim community will fast, foregoing food and drink between sunrise and sunset. Non-Muslims are not expected to fast, but should only eat or drink within specially designated areas in public places during this time.

Alcohol is available to everyone over the age of 21, but is limited to hotel bars, restaurants and nightclubs.

There are plenty of taxis available in and around all the cities of the UAE. Dubai Metro is a popular and cheap mode of transport and links all major hotspots in the city of Dubai. There’s also the Dubai Tram, which connects the Dubai Marina area with JBR. As with all major cities, there are peak travel times, so be sure to check traffic conditions before you leave the hotel. It’s also an idea to take note of your hotel name and any landmarks around it, so you can find your way back easily.

If you’re planning to drive on a visit visa, you can use an International driver’s license to rent a car. Before, you travel, check with the rental company to make sure you have all the necessary documents required, and carry these with you when driving.

If you have any other queries or need more information during your stay, just ask our friendly hotel staff and they’ll be sure to help you.

There are plenty of private and public hospitals in the UAE, and all are well-maintained and clean. As private medical treatment can be expensive, we recommend arranging medical insurance before you travel.

For most of the year, the UAE has pleasant weather conditions ranging from 20-30°C. During the summer months, the temperature can go up to 48°C, but it’s a good idea to carry water with you at all times to stay hydrated. All indoor spaces and modes of transports are air-conditioned, so you can still visit malls, restaurants and museums in the summer.
