F1 races are always exciting and glamourous, but it’s hard to beat the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Formula One event, which takes place on the one and only Yas Island. Located right next to Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, this is a real petrol-head’s delight, whether you’re there to watch your favourite team take the title, or just want to soak up the sounds of revved-up engines.
The F1 circus rolls into town in November, and sets up camp at the Yas Marina Circuit. The track is spectacular – full of twists and turns, challenging chicanes, and some insanely quick straights. The circuit is 5.55km (3.45miles) long and one of the most modern circuits on the tour.
The Abu Dhabi F1 race is the season finale, and has all the potential to be the best event of the year. Racing aside, spectators travel far and wide to attend shows of the biggest names in music. This year is no different, with headlining performances from the legendary Guns N’ Roses, Sam Smith, The Weekend and Post Malone, ensuring there is something for everyone. Additionally, as the event happens towards the end of November, you can also look forward to the weather at its prime, perfect for a weekend holiday or staycation.
Getting to the stadium
As Yas Island is next to Abu Dhabi Airport, getting to the circuit is very easy if you are flying in. If you stay at one of our Premier Inn hotels, you can either book a taxi to take you to and from the circuit, or hop on board one of our shuttle buses that’ll take you to and from Yas Island, just check at reception for the daily schedule.
Tickets for the race are in high demand, so it’s important to book in advance, especially if you want a grandstand seat right next to the starting grid. Passes for tours of the garages are available from various ticket outlets, but bear in mind that security is tight, so keep your personal belongings with you at all times, and travel light. There are plenty of food and drink vendors at the track, so if you do get a little hungry you can choose from fast food outlets right up to 5-star dining with exclusive views of the race as it gets underway.
Which hotels can I stay in?
