The Great Outdoors | Where to go swimming in the UAE

09 Mar 2021

As the temperature rises, it’s time to cool down in the swimming pool, take a break at the world’s best waterparks or enjoy the sea breeze on the sandy shores of the city!

If you’re looking for a safe place to swim and relax with your family, check-in to Premier Inn hotels in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and head to the hotel pool. If you want water-based adventures elsewhere, we’ve pulled together our favourite free beaches and waterparks to enjoy in the Emirates.

1. Legoland Water Park

With so many waterparks to choose from in the UAE, Legoland Water Park is one of our favourites! Designed with little splashers in mind, it’s a fun-filled day out all year round at Dubai Parks and Resorts. As well as wave pool and splash zones, you can build your own raft to sail through the lazy river. Or challenge each other by building the best boat from Lego bricks.

2. Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi

If you’re staying in Abu Dhabi, or looking for an adventure, Yas Island is the place to go. Yas Waterworld is water’s greatest playground with more than 40 exhilarating rides and slides! And once you’ve completed all the rides, why not try your hand at pearl diving? The traditional experience lets you dive down to collect your oyster, and treasure a precious pearl forever.

Top Tip: Ladies, enjoy full privacy and visit on regular Ladies Days held each month.

3. Premier Inn Hotels

Whether you’re staying for a day, a week or a month all our guests can enjoy access to our hotel pools during your stay. Relax poolside, enjoy a post-work swim or spend some quality family time in the water. If you’re feeling peckish, order a snack from our poolside menu, our pizza’s are great for sharing!

Top Tip: Our airport hotels in Dubai and Abu Dhabi have great views of the runway from their rooftop pools.

4. Al Bateen Beach

Just a 10 minute drive from Premier Inn Abu Dhabi Capital Centre, and you’ll be on the sands of Al Bateen Beach in Abu Dhabi. Whilst it’s only 800m long, the Blue Flag beach overlooks Hudariyat Island and is great for watersports, fishing and beachfront picnics. There’s car parking near by, and a selection of cafes to enjoy when you stay in Abu Dhabi.

Stay safe in the water

Whether you’re heading to the beach, pool or waterpark it’s important to stay safe in the water.
•    Ensure you’re topped up on sunscreen, and where a sunhat and shades to protect you from the sun’s harmful rays.
•    Swimwear, including bikinis, swimsuits and burkinis are totally fine to wear on the beach or in the pool. But remember to cover up when you step away from the sands, and dress appropriate for local customs.
•    Stay hydrated. Although you’re surrounded by water, make sure to increase your water intake when out in the sun.

Book your stay at Premier Inn hotels in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and enjoy a break at the pool.
