After a day of meetings or an activity packed day, we all have times when our brain is active but our body just wants to sleep.

Try these handy tips to help you drift into a deep sleep, and wake up wonderful ready to take on the day ahead.

Time to relax

Build relaxation and exercise into the day to help manage stress. A short walk or some light stretching in the evening can be a helpful way to unwind before bed. Take a warm bath or shower an hour or two before bedtime – studies suggest this may improve sleep quality.

Switch off

  • Avoid using a computer, and turn off screens, late in the evening. 
  • Take time to read that novel you have been carrying around for months.
  • Plug your headphones in and listen to some relaxing tunes, a podcast or a bedtime story to help you switch off in the evening.
